Over the years, security measures in homes have evolved to become the stylish and streamlined products that are on offer today. The favoured method for securing doors and windows is an aluminium frame combined with a screen, which allows for a high level of visibility and airflow while maintaining a secure home, without feeling locked in. Stainless steel mesh would be recognised as the premium product, popular because it can withstand forced entry attempts while also allowing a clear and unobstructed view of the outdoors. Alternatives such as diamond grille screen and perforated aluminium sheet can also be useful for security or barrier purposes, depending on the level of protection or visual deterrent required, at a more budget conscious price point.
ALSAFE® products are custom built in Australia and made to measure to your exact specifications. With ALSAFE® doors and windows, choosing a colour to match existing door or window frames from our extensive range of standard colours is easy. If a matching colour isn’t available, contrasting colours can also be an attractive choice, or a non-standard powder coat colour option may also available.
Door and window screens are made using high quality components and hardware, including Lockwood® locking systems, and great care is taken during manufacture and assembly to ensure an A-grade finished product.
Extensive testing has been undertaken and all security rated products in the ALSAFE® range have surpassed expectations and comply with relevant Australian Standards.
The Alsafe® range has products that suit:
- Hinged Doors
- Sliding Doors
Each of the above product applications can be broken into the following three categories:
- Armour View™
- Sure Fit™ SS Mesh
- Safe View™ SS Mesh
- Safe View™ Diamond Grille
- Sure Fit™ Diamond Grille
- Ultramesh Flyscreen
- Paw Proof Flyscreen
- Stainless Steel Flyscreen
These products are manufactured from components and in a manner that is suitable for Security rated requirements. All components and assembly procedures have also been tested and have passed the requirements for Australian Standards AS5039-2008 and AS5041-2003.
These products are manufactured from components and in a manner which provides excellent ‘occupied safety’, but do not comply with all of the requirements for the Australian Standard to be classified as security rated.
The primary function of these products is to exclude insects. They provide no resistance to a potential break in or burglary.
Each different product range utilises various infills, i.e. the part that creates the screening or security screen. The different infill types are defined and classified into the following categories:
Type 1 Infill
This definition describes an infill product that has voids/holes small enough to prevent an arm from being inserted; which allows for void/hole size to be from 3mm to 65mm as seen in the Diamond Grille infill.
Diamond Grille is an expanded mesh made from tempered aluminium, which provides exceptional strength. It is manufactured with a 7mm strand thickness, and is useful for providing a cost-effective yet robust barrier system for the home.
Type 2 Infill
This definition describes an infill product that has voids/holes that allow an arm through but not a body; which applies to some steel and cast grille designs.
Type 3 Infill
This definition describes an infill product that has voids/holes small enough to prevent most insects from passing through; which allows for void/hole size to be up to 3mm in size and applies to 304 and 316 grade Stainless Steel Mesh and Alu-gard perforated sheet.
